Birthday Shaker Tag- Ice Cream Corner Suite

Hello fellow stampers, crafters, and friends!  Today I want to share a different (for me) project with you.  I typically stick with cards, though I have made other projects in the past (just not on my blog and YT channel).  Today, I made a shaker tag.  You can use it as a tag (add some ribbon to attach it to your gift bag or glue it to your wrapped gift) or you can even add it to a card base to use as a card.

Let's go ahead and get started.  Keep in mind, that if you watch my video, the directions here may be a bit different than the video.  That's OK!  The order doesn't always have to be exact, depending on the project.

How to:

There will be no dimensions listed for this project, as all the pieces are measured by using the dies mentioned. :)

First, I chose some DSP from the Ice Cream Corner Suite.  I die cut a layer of DSP for my background of the shaker using the 5th from the largest die in the Rectangle Stitched Die set.  I chose another DSP from the same package to make a frame for the top of the tag and die cut that using the 5th and 6th from the largest in the same die set.  To do this, set the dies within each other so that you have a frame, then run through your machine.  I also cut a window sheet using the 5th from the largest die as well.

Using the Sweet Ice Cream punch and more DSP, I punched out some ice cream scoops and a cone.  I adhere these together to form a full, 2 scoop ice cream cone.  I also stamped on a scrap piece of basic white the Happy Birthday sentiment, in blackberry bliss.  I used the one from the Hey Birthday Chick stamp set.  I cut this nice and close to the sentiment and angled the end.  (See picture or video.)

Now, let's put this together.   Using foam adhesive strips, place them as close to the edge of the background piece for your tag, going all the way around.  Now, you can either adhere your ice cream cone and sentiment to the front of your window sheet, or you can adhere it inside.  I decided to go with putting it inside.  To do this without seeing adhesive, I used some glue dots.  I placed the glue dots on the very edge (left) of the ice cream scoops, and one at the very bottom of the cone.  I then angled the whole ice cream cone behind the window sheet, ensuring that the glue dots were as close to the edges as possible so that they won't be seen when finished.  Now you can adhere the sentiment to the top of the ice cream using a bit of adhesive of your choice.  I used seal.  Make sure it is lined up nicely before pressing too hard!

Next, add some ice cream corner sprinkles to the tag base.  (This is the piece that you have put the adhesive foam strips around.)  Add as many or as few as you like.  Peel the backing off the foam strips- carefully!  You don't want to make a mess of all the sprinkles.  Now line up the window sheet to go on top of the foam adhesive, trying not to press hard until it is all lined up nicely.  Once lined up, give a good press to make sure it all sticks together.  The last part is adding the frame.  This gives a nice finished look and also hides the glue dots and such.  You can add your frame as you see fit.  I chose to use glue dots.  I placed a number of them around the backside of the frame.  I didn't overo it, but I wanted to be sure the frame didn't have too many areas around it where it looked like it wasn't connected.  Line this up like you did with the window sheet.  If everything is lined up nicely, you should be all set.  If there is a tiny bit of overage, just go ahead and use your snips to cut it down.

Your project is complete!  Feel free to check out the video and comment below with a picture of your own creation!  You can do this with any stamp set, DSP, etc. so have fun!

Creating a watercolor background- technique video

 Hello fellow stampers, crafters, and friends! Did you know that you can find many great videos on YouTube by going to the Stampin' Up! channel?  Many videos are older, but still have great information in them and can be used with any set of stamps or DSP.  Here is a great, short video that shares a technique on how to create a watercolor background using your stamping block!  I haven't used this technique in so long, that I may make my next card with it!

I hope you enjoy the video and try this technique!  Please comment and show me your creation!  As always, I would appreciate your business and would love to be your demonstrator!

Quick and simple card using elements of the Hydrangea Hill Suite

Hello fellow stampers, crafters, and friends!  Today's blog post is a quick and easy one.  Can you measure paper?  Got some DSP laying around that you want to use up?  This card may be just what you are looking for.   The suite I used is the Hydrangea Hill Suite and is only available until the end of June, and only while supplies last.  Though, the dies and stamps are in the new catalog.

Let's get started with the card.

How To:

Cut and fold your papers according to the dimensions below.  Adhere the largest piece of DSP to the Mercury Glass acetate using Stampin' Seal.  Then adhere this whole piece to your card base.  Next, cut the small DSP piece to have a flagged (or bannered) end.  I do this by cutting up about a half inch in the cent, then cut from one corner to the top of the cut, and then the next corner to the top of the cut.  (See my video.)

Now, add a piece of white baker's twine to the bottom part of the bannered DSP.  I knotted mine but you could make a bow. Now, stamp in black StazOn onto your scrap piece of basic white. I stamped the "with Love" sentiment from the Hydrangea Haven stamp set, and cu down to size (meaning, whatever size you like).  Adhere this piece using dimensionals, to the center of your bannered DSP.  Adhere the entire bannered DSP piece to your card using dimensionals.  If you so choose, add a strip of DSP inside the card. Add some Pastel Pearls and your card is complete!

The shine you see in this card is due to the lighting
against the Mercury Glass acetate.

Dimensions:

* 8.5" x 5.5" Thick Basic White, folded at 4.25"
* 5" x 3 3/4" Mercury Glass Acetate
* 4 1/4" x 3" piece DSP (choosing from the Hydrangea Hill DSP)
* 3" x 1 1/2" piece DSP
* Scrap piece of coordinating DSP for inside, if you choose

Make and Mail Monday #5- Pretty Perennials

 Hello fellow stampers, crafters, and friends!  Today's blog post is Make and Mail #5 which features the Pretty Perennials stamp set, among several other great products.  I love this how this card turned out!  If you don't have this stamp set, I suggest you go get it now, as it is only available until the end of June.  I don't see how it can disappoint!

Let's get started with the card.

How To:

Cut and fold your papers according to the dimensions below.  Using the largest die from the Stitched with Whimsey die set, run it through your cut and emboss machine on the front of your card base. Set aside.   Stamp the stems to the bunch of flowers in Granny Apple Green (see picture below) going all around the edges of your card.  The center doesn't need to be one, since you are covering it with the sentiment piece, but feel free to cover the whole panel if you choose.  Leave enough space between each stem for the flower buds and if you don't want it to look uniform, turn your stamp in different directions as you go.  Next stamp the flower buds in Mango Melody and Highland Heather.  I did every other and then filled in the edges a bit with the flower buds as needed.  (I made a video that you can view here.)  Add more to your panel as you see fit.  I added more as I wanted to make sure it was fairly full.  I then trimmed my panel down by 1/8" on each side.  You do not need to do this step, I just like to do this sometimes.  Weird, I know.

Now, stamp in black StazOn onto your scrap piece of basic white.  I stamped the sentiment, "miles apart, but still in my heart" from the Lovely You stamp set.  I then die cut this piece using one of the labels from the Tasteful Labels dies, and die cut a large die from that in Mango Melody as well.  (See picture to see which dies I used.)

Now that you stamping and die cutting is done, pop up the panel using dimensionals.  Adhere to the card base.  Pop up the sentiment piece onto the mango melody piece then adhere to the center of the card using Stampin' seal.  Tie a double bow using some white bakers twine and adhere using a glue dot under the sentiment.  Your card is complete!

Dimensions:

* 8.5" x 5.5" Thick Basic White, folded at 4.25"
* 4 5/8" x 3 3/8" Basic White panel (this is the finished size after I trimmed it)
* Scrap pieces of Mango Melody and Basic White (big enough for the label dies)
