Hello fellow stampers, crafters, and friends! Today is Make and Mail Monday! On Make and Mail Monday, you can enter to win the card from this blog post by going to the YT video that corresponds and give it both a thumbs up AND comment! I will then choose someone to mail the card to! This card is one that I made for a team swap and I love how it turned out.
Let's go ahead and get started. Keep in mind, that if you watch my video, the directions here may be a bit different than the video. That's OK! The order doesn't always have to be exact, depending on the project.
How to:
The dimensions for the card are listed below. Using those dimensions, cut and fold your card stock. Now, take the white panel and die cut it using the second largest die in the Stitched with Whimsy die set. Next, you will color a small rectangle like shape using watercolor pencils. I chose to use Daffodil Delight, Calypso Coral, and Coastal Cabana. Leave a small amount of space between each color, and only color the top 2/3 of the panel. Now, using an aqua painter, you will blend the colors out until they meet each other. *Important! Do not use too much water! Your brush barely needs to be wet to achieve the blended look. If you use too much water, the paper will pill and warp significantly.* Also, I cleaned my brush between each color as I didn't want the colors to mix. Now allow this to dry.
While my panel was drying, I stamped my sentiment on a scrap piece of basic white and die cut it with the smallest layering circle die. Also, you can die cut the smallest scallop piece from the same die set in Daffodil Delight. Adhere these together. I used multi-purpose liquid glue, but you can use the adhesive of your choice.
Now, go back to your panel. It may or may not be dry. If it isn't dry, you can either let it air dry and come back to your card another time, or you can hit it with your heat tool. If you us your heat tool, try not to do it for too long, as I have noticed the longer that you have the heat on it the more it warps.
Once it is dry, you can stamp your image in versa mark. I used the flower image in the Elegantly Said stamp set. Cover the stamped image with embossing white embossing powder and hit it with your heat tool. Again, don't stay too long- just long enough to melt the powder. Let your image cool down for a minute then use your hands to help flatten and warping that happened, or place it under a stack of heavy books. It may even be worth adhering it to the Coastal Cabana panel that it will be matted to, then placing it under heavy books, depending on the amount of warping.
I used some double sided adhesive tape to adhere the stamped panel to my Coastal Cabana panel. Now, wrap some white baker's twine around this panel twice and tie a knot on the left. Trim your tails to the length you want. Adhere the sentiment, using dimensionals, over the right side of the twine. Now adhere the entire piece to the card base using dimensionals. Lastly, add a few opal rounds for a little more interest and bling.
