Hello crafters, stampers, and friends! Today I wanted to share a quick but super cute card that came together after the ideas in my head weren't quite coming together until I did some searches on the internet. I wish I could credit who I got ideas from, but I forgot to take note. Sorry!
I knew I wanted something fairly monochromatic, simple, and a bit whimsical. I thought that adding the Walk in the Woods stamp set with the Whimsical Dies did just that! Also, the Walk in the Woods stamp set is retiring soon, so I wanted to feature it at least once before it leaves. So, let's get started!
How To:
Prep your card base using early espresso. You will also want a few scrap pieces of early espresso, along with some crumb cake and very vanilla. After cutting all your pieces (see the dimensions for the card under the picture), stamp the mushroom image on the square piece of crumb cake using your early espresso ink pad. You can also stamp the mushrooms on the very vanilla panel. I did 2nd generation stamping (stamp off once) and stamped off the panel so only part of the image is seen (see picture below). On your small crumb cake strip, stamp your sentiment "Everything will be okay". (If you choose to use a different sentiment you will need to change the sizing of the strips accordingly.)
After all your stamping is done, use your stitched with whimsey dies to add some cute stitching to both the large crumb cake panel (second largest rectangular die) and the small crumb cake square (largest square die). Be careful with your placement of the square die as it can easily cut off the edges of the stamped piece. If you are worried about this, you can certainly cut the crumb cake and early espresso square pieces 1/8 inch bigger than I have.
Now that your stamping and stitching is done, use your white water color pencil to go over the shaded areas of the mushrooms. I did this only to the outside, not the inside. Adhere the stamped piece to the early espresso mat. Wrap some linen thread around the bottom. I wrapped it three times and tied it in a knot off to the side. Add some dimensionals and set aside.
The sentiment piece and the early espresso mat have punched ends using the pick a label punch and then are adhered together. Place some dimensionals on the back an set aside. Now to put the card altogether. Adhere the large crumb cake panel to the card base. Adhere the stamped image (using the dimensionals that you already put on it) to the top of the card, making sure to space it so that you can see the stitching around it. Then adhere the sentiment piece towards the bottom. Adhere the very vanilla piece to the inside and you are finished!

That's the card for today! It was pretty quick to put together. Cutting the pieces probably took the longest amount of time! Let me know what you think of it and what you would change. I'd love to hear from you! And as always, I would love to be your Stampin' Up! demonstrator and would so appreciate your business. Happy Stamping!
